Alan R. Gurewich

Alan R. Gurewich, age 65 of Dryden, NY passed away Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Cayuga Medical Center surrounded by family. 

Born July 6, 1957 in Columbus, OH, he was the son of the late Bernard and Betty Noble Gurewich. After graduating from Binghamton University, Alan was an Assistant Vice President of Consumer Lending with Tompkins Trust Co. for 37 years before retiring in 2018. He was the treasurer for Ithaca Sertoma and a member for the Relay for Life team. He volunteered in the community for many years as a Sertoma soccer and Kiwanis baseball coach.  He loved to travel around the world, making it to 6 of the 7 continents.  He enjoyed playing softball with his children, bowling in many leagues, golfing with his 3 buddies every Sunday and most recently learning to play pickleball with his wife. 

Alan is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Anna Finlay Gurewich; his son, Brian Gurewich; his daughter, Nicole Gurewich; brother, David (Joan) Gurewich; mother-in-law, Egidia Finlay; sisters in law, Joanne Finlay and Michelina (Michael) Gibbons; nephew, Thomas Gibbons; niece, Kelsey Gibbons; aunts, Maria Spaziani and Dora (Alfonso) Leopardi; many cousins, friends and extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Lawrence Gurewich. 

Family and friends are invited to call from 10am – 12pm with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 12:30 pm on Saturday, March 11th at St. Anthony’s Church, 50 Pomeroy St., Cortland, NY with Fr.
