Beatrice Hayes

Beatrice Hayes passed away peacefully March 23, 2024 at Upstate Medical Center following a brief
illness. She was 92 years young.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Harold “Fred” Hayes, sisters Irma, Ada, and Marilyn, brother Charles, as well as stepsons Bruce, Frank, and Wayne Hayes, step-daughter Edie, nephew Harvey Beeley Jr, nieces Gloria and Brenda, and granddaughter Casey.

Survivors include her daughter Wanda (Gary) Grover, Newark Valley NY, stepson Robert (Butch) Hayes, So Carolina, step-daughter Charleen Hayes, Groton NY. Grandkids Tami, Kelli, Gary Jr, Brandi, Shane, Toni, Billy, Eric, Sonnett, Becky, Anthony, Calvin, Henry, Mark, Gloria, Amy, and many others that called her Grandma B, too many great grandkids to list , nieces Carol, Patty, and Wendy, and a huge extended family. She is also missed by her dear, special friend and neighbor Mr Ed who looked after her and helped her in any way he could over the years. She always said Mr Ed did that!

She was a do it herself independent woman who still did everything including planting her flowers and taking care of others at 92.

She lived a long, full life with many adventures and friends along the way. After retiring from Cornell after 30+ years she went on to take over care of her sister Marilyn, and help her other siblings until their passing. She never failed to be there for anyone who needed her. A die hard Yankees fan she watched them faithfully even after her beloved Jeter #2 was no more. She used to play Bingo, travel, grew giant sunflowers, and she loved her family.

There will be a huge reunion in Heaven today and she will be missed forever by those of us left behind. RIP til we meet again!

Calling hours will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 PM with a service to follow starting at 2:00 PM, Friday, April 5th at Perkins Funeral Home, 55 W. Main St., Dryden, NY.
