Daniel Charles Jones

Daniel Charles Jones, a longtime resident of Ithaca, NY, passed away on April 8th, 2023 in Brunswick, Georgia, at the age of 73. Daniel, or "Danny" as he was known to many, was born on July 21st, 1949, in Ithaca, NY, to his parents, Virginia and Robert Jones. Daniel was known for his love of going fast, which fueled his passion for sports cars and motorcycles! He had a particular fondness for Moto Guzzi motorcycles and owned many throughout his lifetime. Regardless of the distance or weather, a motorcycle was his preferred means of travel. Living on Cayuga Lake for many years, he avidly enjoyed lake life especially fishing and boating. His favorite boat was the ‘Melissa Danielle,’’ a vintage Chris Craft named after his youngest daughter. He also loved traveling around the world and was always planning the next adventure for him and his daughters when they were young. Daniel is survived by his daughters, Sabrina (Carl) Schimmelfing and Melissa (AC) Posey, his son, Daniel Jones, and his siblings, Robert (Koko) Jones, David (Karen) Jones, Jennifer (Jack) Hunter, Carol (Phil) Leet, and Connie (Richard) Evans. In addition, he is survived by many cousins, nephews, nieces and grandchildren. Daniel lost a lifelong battle with chronic pain and illness. He is now at peace, reunited with his daughter Adrienne Jones, mother Virginia Jones, father Robert Jones, and brother Jeffery Jones, in heaven. Daniel was a man who lived life on his own terms and will be remembered for his sense of humor, generous heart and sense of adventure. In accordance with his wishes, a private memorial for close friends and family will be planned to honor his life and memory. In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory may be made to the Motorcycle Safety Foundation at 2 Jenner, Suite 150, Irvine, CA 92618.
