Darren Siegard

Darren J. Siegard, age 54 of Cortland, NY, passed away at home on March 9, 2024. He was born on July 28, 1969 in Ithaca, NY, the son of William and Eva Siegard. He
attended Candor Central School and later earned his Masters of Science in Clinical Psychology.

Darren pursued with passion his career at the New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities. He genuinely cared for the individuals he served.

Darren went above and beyond to make connections, always putting others first. During his nearly 30 years with NYS OPWDD, Darren progressed from Developmental Aide in 1995 to Psychologist from 2016 until the time of his passing. Darren had the distinguished honor of being nominated for Clinical Staff of the Year
in 2020.

Darren loved the Adirondacks and visited often. He was no stranger to mellower climates either and regularly vacationed on cruise ships to new and exciting places.

In his early 20’s, Darren sang for local band Naughty Pine, belting out tunes by the Doors, the Stones, and more. He continued singing and playing guitar throughout his life to the great enjoyment of his family, friends, and those fortunate enough to overhear his enchanting voice.

Darren is survived by his daughter, Rachel Levine; his parents, William and Eva Siegard; his sister and brother-in-law Robin (David) King, his brother and sister-in-law Keith (Lisa) Siegard; his nephews and nieces, Justin (Rebecca) Siegard, Joshua Siegard, Kirstyn (Austin) Siegard, Cassia King and Hannah King; and his grand nephews and niece, Mason, Colter and Elise.

We invite friends and family to celebrate Darren’s life with us on Saturday, March 23rd, anytime between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Lynne Parks Alumni House on 29 Tompkins Street in Cortland, New York. A more formal remembrance will take place at 11 a.m. at the same location. Stay and share light snacks and beverages with us, along with your favorite memories.
