Eleanor Luoma Obituary

With hearts filled with sadness we announce the death of Eleanor E. Luoma, 93. She passed away peacefully on January 10, 2021 with her daughters by her side. Born on April 27, 1927 to Karl and Erma Newman. She was preceded in death by her husband Reino Albert Luoma. She lived in the home they built in West Belmar, NJ in 1953 until her death.

She was blessed by family including her daughters and their spouses, Nancy (Constantinos) Papachristou, and Linda (Dennis) Mix; grandchildren, Christina, George, Eleni, David, and Jason; great grandchildren, Eliana, Lexi, Logan, Parker, Connor, and his twin sisters Audrey and Eleanor, her namesake. Family was everything to Eleanor.

Sunday was the highlight of her week. She would go to Formula II Salon on Saturday to get her hair ready for church on Sunday. She was a member of the West Belmar United Methodist Church and everyone at these two places were also her family.

She was happiest when family and friends filled her home. She had many nieces and nephews that she adored, their visits and outings were so appreciated.  Her neighbors “The Saners” were her “adopted” family.

Eleanor was seldom seen without a camera. Her life can be remembered and shared through her photographs. Always a smile and a kind word; one cannot think of a time when she spoke ill of anyone and that is remarkable.

There is much to say and many to remember. She loved you all. She treasured her photos, West Belmar, her church, her friends and coworkers at JCP&L, Fotomat and Crest Home Remodeling.  She loved life and her family.  May she rest in peace.

Graveside services were private. A celebration of her life will be planned at West Belmar United Methodist Church when it is safe to do so.
