Lloyd R. (Ray) Bell Jr.

Lloyd R. Bell Jr., age 91 of Freeville, NY passed away Sunday, October 15, 2023 at Cayuga Medical Center, Ithaca, surrounded by his family.

Born May 22, 1932 in Ithaca, he was the son of the late Lloyd Sr. and Ruth Lindley Bell of Varna. Ray was employed with Morse Chain, was an electrician and retired from the wood shop at Cornell University. He was always there to help anyone with anything they might need. He loved animals, being outdoors, harness racing or tinkering in his garage on one of his cars or tractors.

Ray is survived by his wife, Christine Ross Bell; his daughter, Bonita (Albert) Sautter; and his son, Thomas Bell all of Freeville; grandchildren, Corinne (Jason) Russell, Dinnett (Jeff) Moore and Sonya (Kristian) Garrow; two step daughters, Tracie (Peter) Thomas and Kelly (Geoff) Flores; step grandchildren; many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a sister, Beverly Hammond of Berkshire. In addition, he was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth Bell.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 pm on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at the Freeville Fire Station. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to SPCA of Tompkins County, 1640 Hanshaw Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850.
