M. Jean (Hart) Fitzgibbons

 M. Jean Hart Fitzgibbons, age 94, of 27 South Street, Dryden, NY passed away peacefully on July 19, 2023 at home after a short illness. Mrs. Fitzgibbons was born August 23, 1928 in Syracuse, NY, the eldest daughter of Ralph Henry Hart and Martha Geiger Hart. Jean graduated as Salutatorian from Baldwinsville Academy in 1946, and earned her college degree from SUNY Oswego in 1949. Jean taught at several school districts in Onondaga County and taught hundreds of students over the years at Dryden Elementary School before retiring in 1990. In 1951, she married W. Patrick Fitzgibbons of Oswego, NY. Pat and Jean lived in Oswego and then Jordan, NY before moving to Dryden in 1961. In 1965, Pat and Jean purchased their home on South Street, where they raised six children and where Jean resided until her death. Survivors include her sisters Mary Hart Sobotka of Baldwinsville, NY and Marlene Hart Raab of Correyton, TN; her daughter Kathleen Fitzgibbons Perkins (Brad) of Dryden; her sons Patrick Fitzgibbons (Barbara) of Newark Valley, NY, and Thomas Fitzgibbons (Lorraine) of Freeville, NY; her grandchildren Daniel (Mollie), Devin (Kathryn) and Kate Perkins, Erin and John Fitzgibbons, Sean (Stefanie), and Brennan Fitzgibbons; and a daughter-in-law, Sue Fitzgibbons; six great grandsons and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jean was preceded in death by her husband Pat (1983), and sons John (1984), Joseph (2013), and Michael (2021). Friends may call from 2-4 PM on Sunday, July 23 at Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main Street, Dryden, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Monday, July 24, 2023 at Holy Cross Church, 375 George Road, Freeville, NY with Father Gagnier officiating. Burial will follow at Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden.
