Thomas W. Frutchey

Thomas (Tommy) W. Frutchey, age 66, of Virgil NY, went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 19th, 2023, after a long battle with cancer.

Tommy was born on November 22, 1956, at Montour Falls Hospital in Montour Falls, NY.  He was predeceased by his father, Donald C. Frutchey I, and his brother Donald “Donnie” Frutchey II.  Tommy is survived by his mother Mary Jane (Joseph) Kohne, brother Christopher (Denise) Frutchey, daughter Nycki (Eric) Reeves, sons Tom (Monika), Brian (Abby) and Marcus Frutchey, grandchildren Nicholas, Annamarie, Izabella, Aleksander, Brianna, Micah, Spencer, and Rayne, and many nieces and nephews.

After obtaining 43 years of sobriety, one of his greatest joys was to help others battling addictions.  Tommy met his dear friend and mentor Bill (Nancy) Ives when he worked at the Tully Hill Rehabilitation Center in Tully, NY.    Prior to his illness he was also very active in the AA community and made an impact in the lives of many.  

Prior to his illness, Tommy loved to hike, kayak, swim and lift weights.  He was also an avid Yankee fan and enjoyed reading and watching movies.

Tommy was a loving son, brother, father, grandpa, and friend to many.  He was an excellent listener and often gave good advice.  He encouraged those around him to live life “one day at a time” and to look to the serenity prayer when things got tough.  He will be greatly missed by those that love him; however, we know he is finally free to sore with the eagles!
